MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Hi, I’m Michaela! I’m a Vancouver, Washington based photographer, and I serve families who not only want beautiful photos, but also a session experience that cultivates family bonding.
I strongly believe that being photographed doesn’t have to be an exhausting, awkward, or rigid experience, and I love proving this to people time and time again. It truly doesn’t have to be a chore!
Instead of being meticulously posed in stiff positions or just being told to smile for the camera, I give my clients guidance, feedback, and interactive prompts that result in more enjoyable sessions and naturally emotive images.
Fun Facts About Me
I have a blind horse, a snake that sucks at being scary, and a dog that’s a total drama queen
I enjoy filling my home with as many plants as possible
I used to want to be a marine biologist until I realized I’d have to be good at science
I lived in a renovated travel trailer for a little over 3 years
I charged $10 for my first paid photo shoot at age 13
My Journey Here
In the spring of 2020 I graduated from university, married my husband, moved to Vancouver, Washington, and began launching my long time side gig of photography into what is now my full time career. If you remember anything about spring of 2020, it wasn’t the ideal time to move to a new state and launch a business, but here we are!
In September of 2021 I left my job as a caregiver and officially went full time with my photography business. Around that time I also chose to specialize primarily in working with families, as I found that photographing the wild journeys of parenthood and childhood was what brought me the most joy.
My husband and I don’t yet have any children of our own, but we do have a high energy dog named Timber who keeps us on our toes. I expect that when that time of parenthood does come for us, my passion for photographing families will be taken to a whole new level.
